Triton at Hampton Court Flower Show 2007

image Despite the wettest summer since 1982 the Triton stand at this years Hampton Court Flower Show still attracted attention with it’s unique display of fine architectural peices, animalia and fountains.

A focal point of the display area was the impressive Ragley Fountain with Arcanthus Leaf surround. This fountain was inspired by a restoration project on behalf of the 9th Marquess of Hertford, and has been designed for ease of installation and maintenance. It can be installed on any surface.

The Reposing Stag, inspired by a lead stag which resides in the grounds of Bowood House in Wiltshire, sat with a pair of Limited Edition Kingsale Hounds on plinths. These Great Danes are in the style of the favourite hunting dogs of the 26th Lord Kingsale John de Courcy who was born in 1717.

Also along the backdrop was a pair of wall fountains. The first a the Horse Trough Wall Fountain with Neptune Head, the design of which was taken from a 19th Century drinking trough, and second a splendid Small Scallop Shell Wall Fountain with Lion Mask Keystone Fountainhead. The design of the attractive clam shell urn, with naturalistic scalloped design to the front lip, is thought to be of 19th century origin.

Interspersed with the larger pieces were several smaller peices from the Alice Bear range of architectural features, notably The Sanctuary, busts of Napoleon and a Water Nymph, a pair of Hunting Hounds, a Battleshield of Cornish composition stone composistion depicting Constantine The Great, and Puck, the mischievous sprite who appears as a character in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
