Provenance
In the likeness of a relief which formed part of the outer frieze of the right wall of the Ara Pacis (Altar of Peace) it was built to commemorate the return to Rome of the emperor Augustus and his general Agrippa, who had been away for many years on military campaigns in France and Gaul.
The section here shows Marcus Agrippa leading the procession to dedicate the Altar of Peace.
The restored, Ara Pacis is now housed in the Uffizi Palace, Florence.
